Attention Freshmen! By JENELLE M. and KRYSTAL R. Have you ever considered being apart of the class of 2011 Senate? Ever wondered how you would get involved or even run for an officer position? Ms. Zellers and Ms. Diepold have been sponsors of the class of 2011 Senate from the beginning of this year. The class of 2011 Senate will be holding fundraisers and meetings throughout the year. The main issues discussed in the meetings are fundraisers. Sweatshirts and tee shirt sales are also being discussed for the class of 2011. Some planned fundraisers for this school year include: a day of shopping, coupon books, and restaurant nights. The day of shopping is on November 18th at White Marsh Mall. To participate in the fundraiser, buy a coupon book for $5 and “shop till you drop.” Class elections will be held in the spring. A few students have expressed an interest in running in this year’s election. The elections take place in 9th grade English classes also; each student has to make a speech. When asked about the concerns for this year, Ms. Zellers said “Commitment, not showing up, and a lack of leadership.” The requirements to run for class of 2011 Senate, is to be involved and committed to Senate. Every year the students elected will have to be elected again for the next school year. The class of 2011 Senate aims to meet every Thursday in trailer 6. The first meeting was on November 1st. Come and support the class of 2011 Senate. |
