Dear Emily

By Emily S.

Dear Emily, I’ve got a great girlfriend, and I like her a lot. She’s cool and I like spending time with her. I don’t want to upset her, but for Christmas, she got me the dumbest present. It’s some light-up football thing. I really don’t want it; the lights blink on and off and it makes this weird squeaking noise. I can’t take it off my wall or she’ll notice, and I can’t take it back because I don’t even have the receipt. I don’t want to hurt her feelings, but seriously, it’s got to go. Should I take it down, or what?             ~Apprehensive Boyfriend

Dear Apprehensive Boyfriend, If you’re afraid of the possibility of a fight, you should turn the football off. You can still have it on your wall, but it won’t do anything. You might want to tell her that you don’t like the gift, because if she thinks you like it, she might get you more presents similar to the football. Be honest about it, but don’t be a jerk. You like her, just not the gift she gave you.                                      ~Emily

Dear Emily, I had a great group of friends that I couldn’t live without in middle school. We were all best friends. The six of us did everything together. We went shopping, went to the movies, you name it and we did it together. We were all in the same classes; we saw each other all the time. Once we got to high school, that’s when everything changed. We weren’t in the same classes and we all slowly drifted apart. I miss my friends. I loved them. It was like having five sisters to fight, laugh and hang out with. Now when I see them in the hallways or wherever, we just smile and walk away. How do I move on?     ~Lone Ranger

Dear Lone Ranger, You don’t need to move on if you don’t want to. You can try talking to them again. Plan a day for you all to hang out, and invite some other people that weren’t in the group, so it won’t be awkward. You can all still be friends, even if you’re not in the same class.                                                                     ~Emily

By the way.....Hi Mommy!!!!!! I love you!!!!!!!!!!
