G-A-T-O-R-S, Gators lets win! JV and Varsity Cheerleading are back in the competition this winter, JV reclaiming their title of county champions! Meanwhile, Varsity is trying to earn the title of county champions. Back in action and ready to fight, JV and Varsity, fight gators fight.
            Both teams are doing a great deal in preparing for upcoming competitions such as Saturday practices, “kill drilling” the routine as well as critiquing it to make it better, and putting hard work and effort into practice day after day. On January 19^th, both JV and Varsity took home second place at Parkville High Schools competition. With counties being their last competition both teams are working harder than ever to be the best. “I feel that our skill level is high and we are capable of beating just about any team out there,” said Grace K. Winning counties, harder skill levels, and becoming closer as a team are some of the goals set for this winter season and by giving 110 percent, these goals will be met. “You’ve got to beat the best to be the best,” said JV Coach Jen S.
            Although both teams have been doing great so far this season, there’s one thing that got in the way and that was injuries. There were some injuries on both JV and Varsity but by recovering slowly both teams had managed to push past those injuries and regain strength. With the new recruits this season, the teams have changed a lot. One things for sure, the only thing that isn’t going to change is the bond shared between the girls on each team.
            “Being a Varsity cheerleader means a lot to me. It’s something I put a lot of time into and overall I just love doing. It’s a lot more than people think it is and its all I want to do,” said Olivia M. “Being a JV cheerleader means a lot me because I enjoy seeing my friends and when we work hard and accomplish a lot it makes me feel really good,” said Grace K. “Being a cheerleader means a lot to these girls and there is a lot of heart on this team,” said Coach Jen S.
