HSA Information
The next High School Assessment Testing window begins on January 7, 2008. The schedule for testing is as follows:
- Monday, January 7, 2008 - American Government Test
- Tuesday, January 8, 2008 - English 10 Test
- Wednesday, January 9, 2008 - Biology Test
- Friday, January 11, 2008 – Algebra/Data Analysis
Students are expected to complete the High School Assessment Graduation Requirement. The requirement is as follows:
- Students who began ninth grade during the 2004-2005 school year must take the HSA in all four subject areas. It is not necessary for these students to pass the test but only sit for and complete the test.
- Students who began ninth grade during or after the 2005-2006 school year must pass all four tests or achieve a combined score of 1602.
There are a significant number of students here at Perry Hall who are exempt from one or several of the tests. Students who are exempt must fall into one of the following categories:
- If a tested course was successfully completed in a Private School then the student is exempt from that test but must still pass the others.
- If a tested course was successfully completed in an out-of-state school then the student is exempt from that test but must still pass the others.
The January Test dates will include students who have successfully completed a tested course but have failed the HSA for that course. It is also expected that these students will have participated in interventions for these courses in order to enhance skills so that they will be better prepared for testing.
The January Test dates will NOT include the following students:
- Students currently enrolled in a tested course. These students will test during the May window.
- Students who have not participated in interventions since the tested course was completed.
- Students scheduled to take remedial sessions in the spring.
- Students whose parent(s)/guardian(s) wish to put off testing at this time in order for the student to receive the help necessary to be successful on the test. This should be sent, in writing, to Mr. Clary as soon as possible.
If you have any questions concerning HSA testing please call Mr. Clary at 410-887-5108 as soon as possible.
