Symphonic Winds, directed by Mr. Scott Engel, is the "stepping-stone" ensemble to prepare musicians for the rigorous literature performed by the Wind Ensemble. The goals of the ensemble is to prepare each individual musician to be ready for the responsibility of performing music that is largely reliant on individual exposure. Those musicians who move up to the Wind Ensemble are those who have best demonstrated the skill and maturity to handle advanced literature that requires a great deal of individualized effort both in the ensemble rehearsal and practice at home.
