ScholarshipsSigma Phi Epsilon - Males attending UMCP in the fall of 2008. Criteria: academics, leadership, athletics, & community service. Not obligated to join the fraternity. Request application in the school counseling office. Essex Elementary School PTA Scholarship - Must have attended Essex Elementary for 5 years. Essay required on the topic of accomplishments, future goals, and community service demonstrated (total hours). Send to Charlotte Owens at cowens@bcps.org by April 30. Stem Scholarship at CCBC - For students planning to attend CCBC and major in the sciences. See website http://www.ccbcmd.edu/stem/sstem.html Nicole Vanhorn Trust Fund, Inc - Local scholarship: criteria - academics, extra curricular and community activities, essay required, 2 recommendations. Deadline: May 11. Request application in the school counseling office. Trinidad and Tobago Assoc of Baltimore Scholarship - GPA 2.75, attending college or trade/technical school, essay required. Deadline: May 9, 2008. The Ellen Nehmsmann Memorial Scholarship Fund - First generation in family to attend college, extra curricular activities, work experience, essay on goals and aspirations. Deadline: May 2, 2008. CCBC Foundation Dundalk Marie Lloyd/Ed Lamon Scholarship - Students planning to attend any program at CCBC full or part-time. Essay topic-labor unions. Deadline: April 30, 2008. Essex Elementary School PTA Scholarship- For students who attended Essex Elementary for at least five years. More information can be found in the guidance office. Baltimore County African American Cultural Festival Scholarship- General criteria: student of a Baltimore County School, minimum GPA of 3.0, Entering college as a freshman in the fall, community involvement. Application can be found in the guidance office. Deadline is April 30. Kohl’s Kids Who Care Scholarship Program- Recognizes young volunteers (ages 6-18) who help make their communities a better place. More information can be found in the guidance office. Northrop Grumman Engineering Scholarship Program- Supports promising high school seniors who intend to pursue a career in an engineering-related field and who live in communities where Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems is a major presence. Brochures can be found in the guidance office. Alternative Education Advisory Committee- Numerous scholarships that can be used by students who have participated in any alternative education program to continue their education. More information can be found in the guidance office or at www.bcps.org/offices/alted/ Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.- Provides scholarships to high school students who plan to enroll in an accredited four-year college or university in the fall semester following their high school graduation. More information and applications can be found in the guidance office. Application deadline is April 1. BACE Scholarships- If eligible, parent must have been a BACE member for at least 3 full school years prior to student application for scholarship funds. More information and applications can be found in the guidance office. Daniel Fox Youth Scholars Institute- One-week, non-credit program that enables exceptional high school students to preview college life. More information can be found in the guidance office. Maryland Association of Elementary School Principals Scholarship – students majoring in elementary education. Deadline: April 9, 2008. TABCO Scholarship – children of TABCO members, Deadline April 1, 2008. Marine CORPS Scholarship Foundation, Inc. – children of current or former member of Marine CORPS and income is less than $77,000. Deadline April 3, 2008 Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Scholarship – 2 scholarships (one of them is for students attending a Historically Black college) criteria; strong academics, Deadline April 1, 2008 Nordstrom Scholarship – criteria: GPA 2.7+, financial need, eligible to attend 4 year college, essay. Deadline May 31, 2008 The Links Inc. Patapsco River Chapter – criteria: attend Historically Black College, SAT scores, essay, deadline March 29, 2008. |
