The Science Department of Perry Hall High School
The Science Department at Perry Hall High School prepares students to be globally competitive and scientifically literate in today’s world. Our goal is to ensure all students are college- and career-ready through a strong foundation in science and hands-on, inquiry-based learning.
Students can explore a wide range of courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth/Space Science, with opportunities to take Honors, Gifted & Talented (GT), and Advanced Placement (AP) classes. Our lab-based courses encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application of scientific skills.
Whether pursuing science in college or simply becoming an informed citizen, our program supports every student's path to success.

Graduation Requirements
To graduate, a student needs three science credits. One of the three science credits must be Biology or Living Systems. Science coursework must be aligned to the Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA) and the Next Generation Science Standards. Students can meet their science credit graduation requirement by taking Earth Systems, Living Systems, and Integrated Physics & Chemistry (IPC). Students may elect to take Chemistry and/or Physics instead of IPC to satisfy the NGSS-aligned coursework requirement.
Additionally, students must take the Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA) and pass Biology or Living Systems. This test is administered to students taking Living Systems and the score on the MISA is reflected as 20% of the overall grade for the course.
