The World Language Department of Perry Hall High School
The World Language Department at Perry Hall High School is committed to preparing students for success in a global society by fostering linguistic proficiency and cultural understanding.
The World Language and ELD (English Language Development) programs emphasize:

Through immersive instruction and authentic experiences, students develop skills that extend beyond the classroom.
Languages Offered
Spanish – 6 levels, including AP Spanish Language and AP Spanish Literature
French – 5 levels, including AP French Language
English – 4 levels of language development (ELD)
Program Highlights
Curriculum aligned with ACTFL proficiency standards, emphasizing real-world communication skills.
Instruction conducted primarily in the target language (90% or more), promoting fluency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Opportunities to earn the Maryland Seal of Biliteracy for students demonstrating high proficiency in English and another language.
English Language Development (ELD) Program
The ELD Program supports multilingual learners whose primary language is not English. Its goal is to ensure academic success and language acquisition through:
Targeted instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Integrated support in core academic subjects to help students meet graduation requirements.
Collaboration with families and community resources to promote cultural inclusion.
Alignment with state English language proficiency standards, preparing students for college and career readiness.
