Eligibility

During the COVID-19 pandemic, MPSSAA has communicated that adjustments to eligibility processes are at the discretion of each local school system. Based on BCPS’ updated grading and reporting procedures during COVID-19, a shift in athletic eligibility was required. The revised eligibility requirements are in greater alignment with our COVID-19 grading and reporting procedures. All students would be eligible for Fall and Winter sports pending marking period 1 grades. The GPA requirement would be waived as some students have had no way to improve their GPA based on COVID-19. MP1 report card distribution will occur after the Winter practice season has started, but prior to any games being played. This timing is typical.  The changes to eligibility are shown in the chart below and represent and include feedback from BCPS high school principals.  At this time, I do not have any further information regarding sports, any possible adjustments to rules, calendars, etc. etc.
