The AVID Program at Perry Hall High School
The AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program is a college and career readiness system designed to help students develop the skills needed for success in school and beyond. It emphasizes WICOR strategies: Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading.
In addition to academic strategies, AVID teaches essential skills such as study habits, time management, critical thinking, and goal setting. It is offered as an elective class during the school day and supports students in enrolling in rigorous courses, including Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) classes.
Many students begin AVID in 9th grade and continue through graduation. This continuity allows students to build strong relationships with their AVID peers and teacher.
Students who wish to be considered for placement in the AVID program at Perry Hall High School must complete the application process. Applications are available each school year during course registration, typically in November, and are due in late January. Specific dates, details, and the application link will be posted on this page when available.
